Tutoring

Holtz Hall is offering tutoring remotely or face-to-face! They offer tutoring for common classes needed for our program like MATH 220, 221, 510; CIS 111, 115, 200, 300, 301, and 400; and CC 110, 210, 310, and 315. Math Help Sessions

Students in math courses can get help from math GTAs in the math help sessions on Zoom. Visit the math website to view the schedule and click on any name to join their Zoom session.

Due to COVID-19, our advisors will no longer be taking walk-in appointments. Appointments are preferred to be online via Zoom, however they will also offer face-to-face meetings if needed. Please use the SSC to schedule your appointments. If the matter is urgent, you can email your advisor. If you need assistance, contact the CS Office.

- Navigate How-To
- We are now using Navigate for enrollment. This can also be used to schedule appointments with your adivisors. If you have any questions on how to use Navigate or how to schedule an appointment with your advisor, please go to the Navigate How-To page.
- Math Tutoring
- Students in math courses can get help from math GTAs in the math help sessions which will start tomorrow, on Monday, January 24, in-person for daytime hours in the basement of Cardwell Hall (CW 041) from 11:30 a.m. - 5:20 p.m., and on zoom for a few evening hours on MW 8:00 - 10:50. The schedule lists times and tutors, and the zoom link for each hosting evening sessions

- GIS Certificates
- The Geography and Geospatial sciences department offers GIS and GIScience certificates. Earning a certificate helps document important knowledge and skills that help make student resumes stand out from the competition. Students seeking more information about certificates should visit the department's website or contact Shawn Hutchinson, shutch@ksu.edu, in the geography and geospatial sciences department.
- ConocoPhillips Hackathon and Leadership Forum
- ConocoPhillips is holding their annual Student Leadership Forum and Innovation Challenge again this year. The Innovation Challenge is an all-expenses paid, hackathon competition. The event will be held the weekend of September 9th - 12th and will expose students to the industry, company, and help them build skills in emerging tech. The Student Leadership Forum is an all-expenses paid, business case study competition. The Forum will be held September 6th – 9th and will have multiple team building exercises, along with the opportunity to meet various employees in different disciplines in IT. These events will also give the students an opportunity to gain a full-time or internship offer, along with multiple prizes. Both Professors and Students can apply or recommend students for the 2022 Innovation Challenge and the 2022 Student Leadership Forum. Deadline to apply is May 31st.
- HackKU
- The Association of Computing Machinery at KU is hosting a 36-hour programming competition where teams develop creative projects around a provided theme. It will be hosted from April 8-10 in person. More information and registration can be found on hackku.org.
- STEM Mentors Needed
- The Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan are needing mentors to help lead the program every Thursday from 4:30-5:30pm starting as soon as possible and ending May 12th, and then starting again September 12th, 2022- April 27th, 2022. They are providing training, so no need to be a STEM expert. If you are interested please reach out to Jennifer Rodgers (grants@bgclubmanhattan.com).
- Chillennium Game Jam
- Chillennium Game Jam is a 3-day competition organized by students, for students, with over 300 annual attendees from all over the country, where students compete in teams of up to four people to see who can create the best game in only 48 hours. The event will be in person, from April 1, 2022, to April 3, 2022, at Texas A&M University's Hildebrand Equine Center. View their page for more information and to register
- Serverless Camp Summer 2022
- Serverless involves harnessing the power of cloud computing and building large applications quickly without having to manage servers. The Serverless Camp is an 8-week interactive coding bootcamp designed to help you gain real-world technical skills through project-based learning and build awesome professional connections. They will be offering two programs, June 13th-August 31st: the Mentorship Program and the Global Student Community. View their page for more information and to apply!
- Cyber Defense Exercise
- The Distributed Tabletop Exercise will leverage MS Teams and Norwich University Applied Research Institute's (NUARI) DECIDE platform. This exercise will expose players to the executive level environment and provide an opportunity to experience a live environment response to a common cyber threat. - Guaranteed Scholarships for Nagoya, Japan Exchange Program
- For fall 2022, students who are accepted and participate in this program will receive a guaranteed $5,000 Office of International Programs Scholarship. In addition, Nagoya University of Foreign Studies offers a guaranteed 60,000 yen/month stipend to KSU exchange students while in Japan. That's currently around $525/month (x 4 months = $2,100). Students are also able to utilize their existing KSU scholarships and financial aid package and are also able to apply for other education abroad scholarships. Students do not have to have Japanese language proficiency, as many classes are in English. Visit their page for more informationa and to apply.

Scholarships
- Exploring Entrepreneurship Scholarships
- Are you interested in learning about how innovation and the entrepreneurial mindset will help you in your career? Applications for Exploring Entrepreneurship scholarships for fall 2022 are now available. These $1,000 scholarships are awarded to students to take their first entrepreneurship class. Priority review of applications begin March 11.
- ELI Program for COE Students
- The Engineering Leadership and Innovation program is eligible to UG students of the COE who will graduate in 2024, and have completed/will complete LEAD 212 by Spring 2023. This program offers a scholarship each semester and mentors from partnering companies. See and complete the online application for more information and to be considered.
- Incrementors Scholarship
- This company offers a $1,500 scholarship for students interesting digital marketing, web analytics, and growth hacking. The deadline to apply is May 30th, 2022, and it is a two-part application, essay and online form. See their website for more details about this scholarship opportunity.
- Inoxoft Software Engineering Scholarship
- The Inoxoft scholarship is for talented and motivated young people interested in science, engineering, innovative and emerging technologies. Scholarships for information technology students allow smart and tech-savvy generations to be a step closer to conquering their ambitions. They offer a $1000 scholarship for software engineering education to the most talented student as an encouragement to spend the grant for self-education purposes, obtain valuable knowledge and new skills necessary for future career growth. The deadline is October 22nd, see their scholarship website for eligibility, application, and more infomation.
- PixelPlex Bi-Annual Scholarship
- $2000 PixelPlex Bi-Annual Scholarship was established to help support students pursuing education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), as well as economics and business. To be eligible you must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident, be enrolled (or accepted with plans to attend) in a college or university in the United State, and your field of study must be related to STEM, economics, or business. The deadlines to apply: December 5, 2021 and June 5, 2022. Application guidelines include choosing an industry or sector where the application of one of the technologies below might be uncommon, in your opinion, and describe which existing problems will be solved as a result. Pick from these technologies: Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality. Visit their website for how to apply and for more information.

- Graduate Research Position
- A position has opened for a GRA with interests, and possible classwork, in machine learning. The tasks assigned would involve this, and be completed in Python and Julia, tutorials available for both if needed. Any combination of virtual and in-person hours can be arranged. - Beloit College Tenure-Track Position
- Beloit College, a selective residential liberal arts college in south-central Wisconsin, is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position in computer science, to begin August 2022. Area of expertise is open, although preference will be given to candidates who are prepared to teach Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other courses that will support our growing Data Science, Engineering and/or Cognitive Science programs. The successful candidate will also regularly teach introductory and intermediate computer science courses in addition to courses in their area of expertise. A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline (e.g., Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Engineering, or Cognitive Science) is expected; candidates who are ABD and expect to complete their PhD before August 2022 are also encouraged to apply. Classes and Enrollment
- Art 568 Alternative Processes in Photography
- This is an intermediary level course for students interested in developing a deeper understanding of a variety of historic processes in photography and their contemporary practices. This studio course addresses the aesthetic, technical, and conceptual concerns specific to different non silver printing. It does not have a prerequisite and will fulfill both Aesthetic Interpretation and Historical Perspectives K-State 8.
- New Math Scholars Program Fall 2022
- The K-State Mathematics Department will offer a new Fall-Spring course sequence Math 350 - 351 next year that satisfies the requirements of Calculus 3 (Math 222), Matrix Algebra (Math 551) and Ordinary Differential Equations (Math 340). Math 350 - 351 takes a unified approach to these subjects and is aimed at students who want to learn this material at a more advanced level. The sequence counts as a total of 10 credits versus the 11 credits for the three separate classes.
- Theatre 630 Horror Cinema
- This clsss fulfills three hours of Humaities and Aesthetic Interpretation. Horror stands as one of the most popular and resilient cinematic genres in the world. Though often greeted with disdain and derision – not to mention controversy and contempt - horror cinema remains an insightful mode of exploring a variety of ideas and concerns. This course will provide a survey of the history of horror cinema, while exploring key works, subgenres, filmmakers, styles, and critical approaches. See the flyer for more information.
- ENGL 516 Written Communication for the Sciences
- Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on March 7th, students may request permission to enroll for Fall 2022 through an online Qualtrics survey, available at the English Department's website. Seniors' requests will be given priority for the first week of the enrollment process. Students should make their request as early as possible (on or after 3/7th), not at the time they are scheduled to enroll.
